Frequently asked questions
General information, not medical advice.
Do I qualify for a GLP-1 medication?
Clinicians generally consider adults with a BMI of 30 or higher, or 27 or higher with a weight-related health condition. Only a licensed clinician can decide for you.
How fast will I lose weight?
Results vary. Doses increase gradually over months, and most people lose weight steadily rather than quickly. Ask your clinician what is realistic for you.
What are the side effects?
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation are the most common. See our full overview.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the medication, your insurance, and the clinic. See our pricing guide.
Will insurance cover it?
Many plans do not cover weight loss drugs, and others require prior authorization. See our insurance guide.
What happens when I stop?
Many people regain some weight after stopping. Talk to your clinician about a long-term plan.
Is telehealth okay?
Many licensed providers offer virtual visits. Make sure the provider is licensed in North Carolina and that you get a proper medical evaluation.
Are compounded versions safe?
Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, and rules around them have changed. Ask any provider exactly what you will receive and where it comes from.
Do you provide medical care?
No. We are a referral service. We match you with independent clinics, and we may be paid by them.
